Almost 200 people, mostly women, have been murdered in the northeastern Indian state of Assam, accused of witchcraft and sorcery. We meet women who were branded as witches by their neighbours or relatives and have been forced into a life of exile.

A few years ago, Broadly’s Milène Larsson met the supposedly most powerful witch in Europe, Mihaela Minca. Now she is invited to Mihaela’s 17 year old son’s lavish arranged marriage to a young virgin witch, his cousin Beatrice.

Witchcraft is very much alive in Romania and it’s even feared by politicians. We join the country’s most powerful witches for the main rituals of the year.
